After having used an older Airport Extreme Base Station (flat model) for several years, I found that it was unable to keep up with the new high speed Internet I recently switched to (200 MB). So, I got this newer model, and it works like a dream. Bear in mind, though, that in April 2018 Apple decided to discontinue its WiFi routers.
