This isn’t about just the two firmware we’ve been talking about, that’s DD-WRT vs. Tomato firmware, but all the other third-party firmware available to routers, meaning they all have the same core-functionality, i.e. to “upgrade” your routers and lift restrictions imposed by the stock firmware. The WRT54 line is out of date and no longer being developed on since Linksys was sold to Belkin a while back. I presume that if users are experiencing issues that either you trouble shoot the problem to see if the router can be fixed or if there external interferences or a mis-configuration that is causing problems. Tomato is designed to be flashed onto your compatible wireless router to replace the stock firmware loaded by the vendor. Like DD-WRT, the Tomato firmware can be installed on a variety of wireless routers. Tomato supports the Linksys WRT54G family, which also includes the WRT54GS, WRT54GL and WRTSL54GS.
